In a horrific incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her tuition mate as he harboured grudge against her over some trivial issuethat had occured a few months ago. Police on Saturday claimed to have detained a 17-year-old boy who had murdered the girl at under construction building in Delhi’s Shahdara district.

According to Meghna Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara district, on March 16, complaint was received at Police Station Shahdara in the evening about the missing of a girl who is a resident of Naveen Shahdara District.

“A First Information Report was registered and investigation taken up. The girl had gone to meet some of her friends in the afternoon but she did not return till late evening. From local enquiry and mobile phone details of the missing girl, her movement and persons whom she was in touch with was zeroed upon,” said the DCP.

“During further investigation it was revealed that she had been in touch with one of her friends, following which the boy was called for questioning. The boy initially said that they had gone to an ice-cream parlour together and from there, he had returned home but on sustained questioning the boy revealed that he had murdered the girl,” said the DCP.

“The boy told police that he knew the girl from common tuition classes and recently he got in touch with the girl and they started meeting frequently. He confessed to holding a grudge against the victim due to an incident which had happened in their tuition class due to which he was reprimanded,” said the DCP.

“Eever since, he had planned to exact revenge from her and on March 16, when he met her, he had already planned to murder her. On the pretext of watching a movie, he took the victim to an isolated location which was an under construction building next to Welcome Metro Station. He mixed some drugs in her cold drink, due to which she became semi-conscious.

He then tied her with a tape  and then strangled her. If that was not enough, he inflicted injuries on her head also,” said the DCP.

“The boy had confessed to the crime and led the police team on the spot where the body was found. Prima-facie there does not seem to be a sexual assault. Further investigation to determine the exact sequence of events, motive is in progress,” the DCP added.
