The metro Phase IV project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has  been put on track as tender for five more stretches has been floated. The routes are; Janakpuri West to Krishna park extension, Bhalaswa to Ashok Vihar, Sangam Vihar to Saket G Block, Maujpur to Majlis Park and Keshopur to North Pitampura.

The work for the 12.3 kilometre long Keshopur to North Pitampura, part of Janakpuri West to Ramakrishna (R K) Ashram Marg has been awarded recently in last week and the construction work on the said corridor are expected to start soon by end of this month.

As per the officials, the DMRC has decided to divide the Phase-IV project in multiple packages and contracts to begin the work of 64 km priority corridors.

Among the five corridors whose tender has been floated, two sections Sangam Vihar to Saket G Block and Maujpur to Majlis Park will be an 'integrated structure' as these sections will have both metro line and flyover on same viaduct constructed on standards of Double Deck system.

"The metro line will be constructed on the upper deck and the PWD flyover which is planned on the same stretch will be on the lower deck," said an official.

The 5.5 km Sangam Vihar to Saket G corridor is the elevated section of 20 km long Aerocity to Tughlaqabad corridor. The section will have six lane flyovers on the lower deck and elevated viaduct on the upper deck for the metro line consisting four stations - Sangam Vihar, Khanpur, Ambedkar Nagar and Saket G. Besides, underpass is also expected on this stretch at Saket G block and a two lane underpasses from Mehrauli- Badarpur (MB) road to erstwhile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 716. 20 crores.

While the 12. 5 km Yamuna Vihar to Burari station of Majlis Park to Maujpur corridor will also be double deck system with PWD flyover at lower deck and metro line at upper deck. There will be eight elevated stations at Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Sonia Vihar, Soorghat, Jagatpur Village, Jharoda and Burari station. The approximate budget of this section is Rs 1030 crores.

The other corridor  between Bhalaswa to Ashok Vihar will have four elevated stations at Bhalswa, Majlis Park, Azadpur and Ashok Vihar whose estimated cost is Rs 746.68 Crores. This stretch is also part of the longest section of Phase IV and extension of already functioning Magenta Line Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram Corridor.

Delhi Metro has also invited tenders for the construction of Krishna Park extension station, part of Janakpuri West to R K Ashram marg. The station will be underground and the estimated cost of this project will be Rs 478.12. "This will be an underground station and a twin tunnel, underground ramp and station will be connected to the subway with Entry/Exit points," said an official.

Officials said the tender will be opened after one month and the finalisation of the contract and tender process will take at least 3-4 months.

There are six priority corridors under Phasse IV project but the Central Government has approved three priority corridors i.e, 21 km Aerocity to Tughlakabad, 29 km Janakpuri West to RK Ashram and 12.55 km Maujpur to Mukundpur in the month of February.
