Thank PM, Yogi’s piece of advise to Priyanka

Wednesday, 20 March 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should at least thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his effort to clean Ganga river because of which she was able to undertake a Ganga yatra.

“It would have been much better if Priyanka had taken her brother and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi along with leaders from the SP-BSP alliance on her Ganga sojourn. That way, they could themselves witness how successful Namami Gange project has been,” the Chief Minister said. Talking to media persons in Lucknow on the occasion of the second anniversary of his government in UP on Tuesday, Yogi said: “Priyanka did ‘achman’ (a ritual) with Ganga water and it is itself a proof that now people can drink water from Ganga river and its credit should go to PM Modi.”

“Priyanka should also know what PM Modi had done to clean Ganga which could not be done by four generation of the Congress rule,” he said.

Elaborating on the Ganga yatra undertaken by the Congress leader, Yogi said: “It is evident that the Congress also knows that the river route has been developed and hence they have decided to take it for campaigning.”

When his attention was drawn to a petition by a lawyer in Varanasi to stop Priyanka from entering Kashi Vishwanath temple as she was a Christian, Yogi said that every Indian had the right to enter any temple or religious place in the country. “We should not discriminate on religion, caste or creed for entry into a temple,” Yogi said while adding that the UP government was not interested in doing politics on the issue as it was focusing on development of the state.

Meanwhile, Yogi claimed that there was good coordination between the party and government in the success of the two-year of the BJP regime in UP.
