nThree persons, including an employee of Nandan Steel plant, were arrested on charges of duping Rs 26.50 lakh in guise of crime branch sleuths from a plant supervisor on November 15, police said here on Monday.
“One of the held accused was planning to contest upcoming civic body elections,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Raipur Arif Sheikh informed reporters.
Police has seized Rs 8 lakh in cash from their possession.
One of the accused is Anand Singh alias Golu (22), a native of Chhapra police station of Balia in Uttar Pradesh. Currently he was staying in Bhanpuri locality under Khamtarai police station limits in Raipur. Two other accomplices are Ankit Mishra (22), a native of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and Chandrashekhar Talloli (35) from Vadodara in Gujarat, the SP adding two other persons wanted in connection with the case are on the run.
According to police, Income Tax department had carried out raids at Nandani steel plant and Anand Singh had reportedly seen the cash that was unaccounted. He then decided to take away the money.
“After doing recce for about 15 days and studying the movement of money the gang executed the duping on November 15,” SP said while adding a detailed and meticulous investigation was carried out which ultimately led to the arrest.
