A woman died and a man was seriously injured after the couple attempted suicide by jumping on the train track near Bahadurpur village under the jurisdiction of Laksar police station .
While the girl died on the spot, the youth was admitted to the hospital in serious condition on Saturday night. Meanwhile, in Dehradun, a woman reportedly committed suicide on the railway track.
In Haridwar, the youth has been identified as Lalit from Jhabri village and the woman with him was also from the same village, said the police.
On Saturday night the couple jumped before a speeding train. On receiving the information from the villagers police reached the spot. The youth has been referred to higher medical centre in Dehradun while the body of the woman has been sent for postmortem, said the police.
Meanwhile, in Dehradun, 40 year old Veera Devi was found dead on the railway track near Badripur railway crossing. Jogiwala police post in-charge with local police force reached the incident scene from where her body was recovered.
According to the local police prima facie it appears that the woman committed suicide. She had two kids and her husband works in Border Security Force. According to the information gathered by the police the deceased was going through mental stress and had not been well recently.
