Three-day Int’l Buyers-Sellers Meet begins to promote C’garh’s products

To promote agriculture, forest and horticulture produces and also handloom products of Chhattisgarh at national-international level, a three-day International Buyers-Sellers Meet got underway in capital city Raipur on Friday.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the meet attended by 57 representatives and buyers of 16 countries and 60 representatives from various states of India.

In the inaugural programme, eight MoUs were signed, including four MoUs with Chhattisgarh Rajya Mandi Board and four others with Chhattisgarh State Handloom Co-operative Federation.

In the meet, Agriculture and Biotechnology and Water Resource Minister  Ravindra Choubey and Chief Secretary Sunil Kujur were also present.

In his address Baghel welcomed the guests on behalf of the hard-working farmers of the state. He said that farmers’ welfare is the top-priority of the state government.

Such events will promote direct connection between producers and consumers, and provide international exposure for the products, which will largely benefit the farmers and handloom weavers of Chhattisgarh, he said.

He said that farmers of Chhattisgarh are hard working, dedicated and honest.

He stated that Raipur is not only the capital of Chhattisgarh but also the capital of various agriculture produces and herbal medicines.  Since ancient times in Chhattisgarh, medicinal herbs such as kodo, kudki, ragi, sanva are being produced in traditional and organic manner, the CM said.

International exposure will not only help farmers and weavers earn better profit but will also provide quality products at reasonable price to the consumers, he added.

The CM informed that he has requested Central Government to make International Airport and Cargo Hub in Raipur.

He also interacted with the buyers and representatives from the country and abroad in the programme. On the occasion, CM launched a logo of 'Produce of Chhattisgarh', which will be used for branding of handloom, handicraft products and agri- produces of Chhattisgarh.

Baghel informed about the state government's ambitious scheme 'Narva, Garua, Gharua, Bari'. He added the this scheme will help in conservation of water resources, development of livestock and it will also promote production of organic fruits and vegetables.

Baghel also inaugurated an exhibition at the three-day meet wherein 60 types of agricultural, forest and handloom products have been put on display. These include variety of paddy, rice, herbs, and other agricultural and horticultural processed products being produced in the state. Likewise, wide range of forest produces of Chhattisgarh and handloom products have also been kept on display at the exhibition. The exhibition would be opened for common people on September 22.

On the occasion, School Education and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Minister Premsai Tekam and several other  senior bureaucrats and top officials were present.
