The three-day state convention of SPIC MACAY began at Unison World School on Friday. To mark the commencement of the convention, the film ‘The Making of Mahatma’ was screened for the students. Later in evening there were performances by Padma Shri awardee Basanti Bisht and Hindustani classical singers Rajan and Sajan Mishra.
In an interactive session with students, actor and director Rajit Kapur said, “Your life experiences teach you what to implement and not to implement. We choose things in life which go well with our values and comfort. Everyone has to stand on the foundation of their choices.” He shared with the students his acting journey and answered several questions raised by students. The talk session was followed by training and workshop by 15 experts. The students got an opportunity to learn various art forms from the 15 artists including Hindustani vocal from Tulika Ghosh and Vijaya Godbole, Kathak from Deepti Gupta and Ravi Prakash, Bharatnatyam from Tanya Saxena, Odissi from Shalakha Rai, Gurbani from Alankar Singh, Chhau from Tarapad Rajak and puppetry from Dadi Pudumjee among other art forms.
