Tourism dept cancels programme at George Everest post-Pulwama attack

Sunday, 17 February 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Department of tourism has cancelled the proposed foundation stone laying ceremony of George Everest Heritage Park in Mussoorie in view of the suicide bomb attack on CRPF personnel in Kashmir and martyrdom of over 40 CRPF men.

The Asian Bank Development (ADB)-funded tourism infrastructure development and investment  project was slated to be inaugurated on Sunday.

The State Culture and Tourism Minister, Satpal Maharaj, said that the programme has been postponed as mark of respect for the martyrs of Pulwama attack. He said that the heinous act of terror on CRPF men is highly condemnable. “In such a situation, when the whole country is plunged in deep sorrow, it is not proper to hold the ceremony,” he said.
