A week long training programme on the ‘Dimensions of Qualitative Research’ started at Academic Activity Centre, Chauras Campus, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar on Wednesday. The programme is being organised by the Faculty Development Centre of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching Scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, N S Chaudhary said that the role of computer is important for the coordination between multiple dimensions of qualitative research. “In the current scenario, the conversion of researches in to the computer language and its continuous updating is an important aspect of higher education which needs to be carried out significantly from time to time,’’ je said.
In his address in inaugural session, the VC of HNB Garhwal University Anapurna Nautiyal said plagiarism should be avoided while writing and publishing research papers. “We must maintain the quality of research work.
Multidisciplinary researches are the need of the hour and in such scenario, we cannot afford to take subject and area specific researches without connecting it to social concerns,’’ she said. Former Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the university, J P Pachauri stated that the knowledge ridden age requires the systematic research based on appropriate research methodology and efforts.
The Director, the Faculty Development Centre, Indoo Pandey Khanduri highlighted the contents of short term training programme.
She elaborated the fundamentals of qualitative research, ontology and epistemology, data acquisition and analysis, methods of interpretation, report writing and issues related to research ethics. She said that objective of the training program is to enhance capacity and capability of the faculty members. Khanduri informed that 34 faculty members from various higher education institutes from across the country are participating this in programme.
