A day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik provided partial relaxation to motorists from hefty fines for three months, Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera on Tuesday said transport offices in the State would remain open in holidays to allow public to prepare documents needed as per the Motor Vehicles Act 2019.
Behera informed that special camps would also be set up at different places to help motorists comply with the amended provisions of the MV Act. “The State Government will provide all kinds of support to public to help them arrange their vehicle documents within the relaxation period,” he said.
The Minister added that the collected fine amount would not be returned to motorists who have been penalised for traffic norm violations.
Meanwhile, Twin City Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi advised motorists to prepare the required documents within three months.
Otherwise, they would face strong action if found to be violating traffic norms once the relaxation period is over, he warned.
