In yet another such shameful incident, a tribal girl student studying at a residential high school at Mohana in Gajapati district has been found pregnant.
Sources said the girl, who studies in Class-X at the residential school, is pregnant for five months.
Sources said that when authorities of the residential high school came to know that the girl has not been menstruating for past two months, they took her for a medical test at the Mohana Community Health Centre (CHC). During the examination, it was found that the girl is pregnant.
After receiving the information, Gajapati Collector Anupam Saha directed Mohana BDO Bansidhar Khosala and police to probe the matter. Besides, the District Child Welfare official is also probing the case.
Notably, a Class-VII girl had been found to be pregnant in Papadahandi of Nabarangpur district on Wednesday. The matter came to the fore after a complaint was lodged by the girl’s mother at the Papadahandi police station.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested a youth of Ghusurabedha village under the POCSO Act and various Sections of the IPC.
