The Kalahandi police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked the brutal murder of a 30-year-old woman and her two sons at Singhjharan village by arresting the main accused, who was identified as Linga Majhi, the father of the children.
Kalahandi SP Batulla Gangadhar said that the accused Majhi had initially killed his wife by slitting her throat and dumped her body on a railway track.
Later, he returned home and murdered his two sons in a similar manner, said the SP at a Press meet here.
Majhi committed the ghastly crime due to his extramarital affair with a married woman, the SP said.
Three months ago, Majhi had eloped with the woman and later returned to his family.
After Majhi’s repeated requests of reconciliation were turned down by his wife, the former hatched a plan eliminate her. The accused has confessed to the crime, said the SP.
The deceased woman Bimla and the two sons were found dead on Monday.
While Bimla’s body was found lying on the railway track, the two children, Rabindra (4) and Dushmant (6) were found dead in pools of blood in their house.
