Two police personnel were booked for allegedly molesting a woman colleague in Korba district, police informed here on Tuesday.
“The case was registered on the directives of local court at Darri police station against Head Constable Yogesh Ratre (32) and Constable Mansingh Kawar (34),” Superintendent of Police (SP) Korba Jitendra Singh Meena said.
No arrest has been made so far in connection with the case, he added.
According to the victim- a constable presently posted at Rampur police outpost of the district, the alleged incident took place last year when she was posted at Darri police station along with the two accused cops, the official said.
While Kawar is currently posted at Dipka police station, Ratre is still in Darri PS.
According to Meena, the incident was reported by the victim about a year back to the then SP Korba. The accused were given clean chit based on investigation report submitted by then City Superintendent of Police (Darri area) over allegations, he said.
The woman constable had then approached a local court. The court last week directed to lodge an FIR against the two cops, he said.
The accused were booked under Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene acts), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 34 (common intention), the official said adding that investigation into the matter is underway.
