With two more cases of dengue on Thursday, the number of dengue affected patients this season in the provisional state capital has climbed to 13. Meanwhile, a policeman on duty in Haridwar has also tested positive for dengue.
On Thursday, the Dehradun district health department found a 22 year old female patient in Shastrinagar and a 22 year old male patient in Garhi cantonment area positive for the disease. The district vector borne diseases officer, Subhash Joshi said that 10 out of 13 cases reported so far are residents of Dehradun while three patients who have tested positive for disease in Dehradun are residents of other districts. He said that the teams of health department are working in the affected areas and advised that people should destroy breeding grounds in their vicinity to combat the disease effectively.
Meanwhile, a policeman from Dehradun on Kanwad Mela duty has also tested positive for dengue. The Haridwar district hospital authorities are saying that he caught dengue in Dehradun and not in Haridwar. The police officer Purnanand Sharma has been made sector in-charge in Mansa Devi area. Speaking to The Pioneer Haridwar district malaria officer Gurnam Singh said that the policeman had been afflicted with dengue in Dehradun.
