A police inspector and a sub-inspector were killed while three other persons were injured when their SUV was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Sultanpur on Friday.
Station house officer of Chilihiya police station in Siddharth Nagar, Raj Kumar Yadav, and sub-inspector Nityanand Yadav were on their way to Allahabad on a SUV for appearing in a court case when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle near Kurebhar village in Sultanpur.
While the duo died on the spot, three others were injured in the mishap.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief and condoled the death of the two police officers and directed Sultanpur district administration to ensure the best treatment to the injured.
Meanwhile in Balrampur, a farmer, Chhatilal, was electrocuted to death and his three sons were injured when a barb wire that they were fixing on a fence, came in contact with a electricity wire at Chauka Kalan village on Friday.
The injured were admitted to a hospital and their condition was stated to be stable.
