Two men allegedly committed suicide in two separate incidents in northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area. Both the incidents were reported on Wednesday.
In the first incident, a 26-year-old labourer, identified as Sanjeev Kumar, committed suicide under mysterious circumstances at Harsh Vihar’s gali number 17. According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-East district, after receiving the information, police reached the spot and found the victim lying in his room.
“Meghawati (60), the mother of Sanjeev, said that her son had consumed liquor on Tuesday night and when
she saw in morning, he was lying unconsciously and did not respond,” the DCP said.
“The victim was rushed to GTB hospital where he was declared brought dead. Meghawati suspected that Sanjeev might have consumed petrol along with the liquor,” said the DCP.
“The victim was married for around six years and had a fight with his wife on Wednesday, following which he took the extreme step. We are waiting for the post-mortem report to know the exact cause of death,” said the DCP.
In an another incident, a 20-year-old man committed suicide after hanging from a ceiling fan at his house
in northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area. The deceased identified as Suraj Chand was also a labourer.
“On Wednesday afternoon, police reached Harsh Vihar Gali number 9 after receiving the information and found Suraj hanging in his room from the ceiling fan,” said a senior police official.
“Ramesh Chand (50), the father of Suraj, said that his son hanged himself on Wednesday afternoon. Preliminary investigation revealed that due to some family issues, Suraj had committed suicide,” said the senior police official adding that further investigation is going on.
