Tuesday, 19 March 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) has announced a tentative list of its candidates at a press conference held on Monday. The state president of the party Diwakar Bhatt said that his party would raise the people-related issues  forcefully in course of the campaigning.

“We have been doing so since the time the party came up and the same would continue in this election too,” he said. Notably, the regional party is contesting all the five seats up for grab in the state. He further said that they had recently taken feedback from the party members about the candidates and prepared a tentative list on the basis of the feedbacks received. Addressing the media persons, Bhatt said that they were releasing the list which contained names of two candidates for each of the five seats.  “The final list would be released by March 22,” he added.

For Tehri, the list has two names- B D Raturi and Pankaj Vyas while for  Pauri, Shanti Bhatt and Avtar Singh Rana feature in the list. For Haridwar, Ashok Negi and Vijay Kumar Bodae are in the list while for   Nainital, B D Kandpal and Kashi Singh figure and the list for  Almora has Jivan Bharti and K L Arya.

Dwelling on the principal poll pitch of the party for the upcoming election, Bhatt said, “Our party will highlight the main issues of the state which are unemployment and migration aside from the demand for green bonus.”

He admitted the party’s inability to build the right connect with the people.

“We have been unable to gain the people’s confidence and hence our organisational weakness. However, the party is less bothered about how to come to power than how to build the state. We are focused on giving a better  life to the people,” he said.

Stressing on unity among those who professed by the UKD ideology, Bhatt said that they were united this time. “The party faced problems in the past. Factions drifted away. But this time we would fight the election together,” he added.
