UPRNL served notice on Monday’s mishap

Wednesday, 14 August 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The administration of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) has served a notice on Uttar Pradesh Rajkeeya Nirman Nigam Limited (UPRNL) for the freak incident on Monday when a portion of the false ceiling of the newly constructed OPD building caved in. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when a portion of the ceiling at the dental OPD of the hospital fell. Luckily no one was injured in the accident but it created a situation of panic among the staff and the patients. Interestingly Monday’s incident is not an isolated one. In the recent past a portion of awning of the new OPD building had caved in.

When contacted, the Principal of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC), Dr Ashutosh Sayana told The Pioneer that a notice has been served to the work execution agency UPRNL for Monday’s incident. He said that the agency has been asked to submit an explanation of the shoddy work.

The new OPD building of the hospital was inaugurated on March 5 this year by the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

The work on the new OPD building of the GDMC hospital near Tehsil Chowk started in the year 2015. However delay in budget and subsequent issues with the work executing agency UPRNL resulted in long delay in completion of the work.
