Due to the Kanwad Mela, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has introduced a new tariff plan for the roadways buses operating on Dehradun-Delhi route.
The new tariff plan will see a hike of Rs 75 in Volvo buses, Rs 65 in AC buses and Rs 45 in ordinary buses. The plan will be applicable from July 25 till the evening of July 31.
UTC General Manager (operation) Deepak Jain said, “The new plan will be applicable from July 25 and then on the evening of July 31 it will be reversed, as buses will have to take a longer route due to Kanwad Mela. Passengers have been informed about the hike.”
It is pertinent to mention here that due to the movement of Kanwadias from July 17, the Dehradun-Meerut-Delhi highway will be crowded, which is why the transport department has diverted the route for roadways buses from Wednesday.
They have also appealed private vehicle owners to take the alternate route.
From July 25, roadways buses going to Delhi will be taking a longer route via Paonta Sahib and Karnal. This route will be nearly 63 kilometres extra than the routine.
Earlier the buses used to take the route via Saharanpur and Devband, but due to increasing number of crowd there the route has been diverted towards Devband.
It is also important to mention here that the buses going from Haridwar and Rishikesh to Delhi will be taking the route via Bijnor.
