Uttarakhand Cong to hit streets after Dec 14

Sunday, 08 December 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The Uttarakhand Congress would hit the path of agitation in protest against the all round failure of State Government after December 14. The party, in the meantime, is gearing itself to send maximum number of its leaders and workers for the ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally at Lal Qila in Delhi on December 14. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh said that eight to ten thousand workers from the state would attend the mega rally. Addressing media persons at headquarters of State Congress here on Saturday, Pritam Singh said that BJP Government has made it a habit to give catchy slogans at different intervals of time so that the people are misguided.

He said that the government is not paying any heed towards the real issues of the people and in such a situation it becomes duty of the Congress party to bring the real issues before Government so that it is forced to act on them. The Congress leader said that unemployment is at all time high and instead of providing jobs this Government has made people lose their jobs. The prices of foodgrains, diesel and petrol, pulses and onion have become outside the reach of general public. “What is shocking that we are made to believe that Pakistanis are reeling under increase in prices and the government talks nothing about the increasing prices in our country.

The Prime Minister is maintaining a silence on this issue and the economy of the country is in shambles,’’ he said. The PCC president added that common people are feeling uncomfortable and women are unsafe in the country. He said that recent spate in cases of violence against women suggests the situation of law and order. Turning his guns on the state government, Singh said that during the debate on price rise in Assembly, the Government shamefully refused to even acknowledge the issue. He said that the State Government has not yet declared the minimum support price (MSP) of sugarcane and has started purchase of sugarcane crop. Singh also took the Government to task for deciding to constitute char dham shrine board without even taking all the stake holders into confidence.

He said that after the end of the Winter Session of State Assembly the party would hit the path of agitation on failure of State Government.
