The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) has highlighted the need to set up an ‘Uttarakhand Electricity Training Institute' (UETI) to train the officers of three power corporations on technology and regulatory changes. The chairman of UERC, Subhash Kumar, discussed the issue with the managing directors of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) and Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL) on Friday.
In the meeting, Kumar said that time to time training should be imparted to the employees to make them conversant with the technology and regulatory changes.
The MDs of three corporations presented their suggestions regarding establishment and organisational structure of the proposed UETI. The institute would be set up near Dehradun and would be suitably connected with the rain, road and air.
The secretary of the commission, Niraj Sati, suggested that the best operating systems in practice among other such institutes functioning in the country should be studied and implemented here.
The MD of UPCL submitted a proposal to hand over a piece of land for the institute. The UERC chairman directed that a committee comprising of officers of three corporations should be set up for the institute. This committee would examine varied aspects related with setting up of the training institute and submit its report.
