Police have busted a gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 14 stolen vehicles from their possession on Sunday. The police have also arrested eight vehicle lifters and seized dozens of keys of various motorcycles, said SDPO Khorimahua, Rajeev Kumar.
The arrested lifters have been identified as Ushman Ansari, Kamrul Ansari, Nimazi Ansari, Jabbar Ansari, Mustakim Ansari, Anil Kumar Verma, Bashilal Lal Marandi and Gulam Marandi, who used to sell these stolen vehicles.
Khorimahua SDPO Rajiv Kumar said that a tip-off was received about the suspects running a vehicle lifters gang. The suspects had stolen dozens of vehicles in the recent past, he added.
“The suspects were arrested at a check post near Nawdiha in the city,” he said.“The gang has stolen more than 100 two-wheelers in the past eight months, which they gave to junk dealer,” the SDPO added.
The suspects had made various types of keys to steal two-wheelers, he said while adding that more stolen vehicles could be recovered in further probe.
