Representative of MP claims base line survey not done yet

Putting a question mark over the details provided by the officials about various development projects , Mohan Singh Negi, the representative of the Rajya Sabha MP, Raj Babbar, said that most of the information provided by the officials on the status of the projects in Lambagad village in Chamoli district are incorrect. This village was adopted by the Rajya Sabha MP, Late Manorama Dobriyal Sharma on December 29, 2014 under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. In the by election held on the seat, Raj Babbar became the MP and he continued the adoption of the village. Accusing the officials of gross neglect of the village, Negi claimed that the Base Line Survey which is the first prerequisite for making developmental plans was not done.

He also said that the villagers were not taken in the loop in formulation of the Village Development Plan (VDP).  The village has a population of 974 and has 224 families. The representative of the MP claimed that the NBCC India limited offered to construct 52 toilets at the cost of Rs 1 lakh each in the village under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme but apathy of the government machinery ensured that the project could not get completed. He added that Rs 52 lakhs have been spent on the drinking water project in the village but villagers are yet to get water.

In the meeting, Negi submitted a document on behalf of the MP in which the actual status of the village is described in detail.

Only one MP attends the meeting

The presence of only one Member of Parliament (MP), Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah in the meeting held to evaluate the progress of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana held at state secretariat on Thursday reflects their indifferent attitude towards the scheme. In the meeting eight MPs (five Lok Sabha and three Rajya Sabha) of the state were invited but only Tehri MP found the meeting good enough to be attended.  These MPs sent their representatives in the meeting. One representative claimed that the intimation of the meeting was given only five days ago which made the MPs difficult to attend it as their programmes were already scheduled.
