Voters can seek info through free SMS service

To facilitate the electors, Election Commission of India (ECI) has started short message services (SMS) and ‘Voter Helpline’ for Lok Sabha polls 2019.

As per free service provided, the elector through his mobile phone can send SMS to number 1950 and seek information registered on electoral roll.

The information provided will have constituency number, polling centre number, elector part/serial number and also the booth level officer mobile number. This can help elector to resolve the problems related to electoral roll before the polling. Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer office informed that the information can be sought in Hindi or in local or in English language. The elector has to go to message box, type ECI then space then EPIC NUMBER and then type 1 for Hindi or local language and 0 for English. The message has to be sent to 1950. The message will have name of elector, age, constituency and name of state. Similarly, if elector wants details of polling centre then would have to type ECIPS give space and type EPIC NUMBER, to select the language elector will have to type for Hindi or local language 1 and for English 0. Electors to know the booth level officer, will have to type ECICONTACT, space and EPIC NUMBER, space then for language 1 (Hindi/local language) or 0 for English ECI is also running Voter verification and Information Programme (VVIP). Similarly, Voter Helpline android application has also been launched.

 It can be downloaded in mobile through play store of mobile and elector can seek personal information registered on the electoral roll.
