Wednesday, 22 May 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Solid Waste Management Rules Implementation Committee Chairman Justice (retired) Dhirendra Mishra directed that those plastic products (PVC) which are not included prohibited list, must display producers’ ‘logo’ and name.

He also called for stern action against the manufacturers, sellers and even users of banned harmful plastic products.

He was chairing the committee constituted under National Green Tribunal (NGT) at Paryawas Bhawan, Atal Nagar on Monday.

Justice Mishra registered his ire over the Railway Management for inadequate solid waste management in Railway residential colonies, even after the Urban Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 came into effect. He directed Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) to constitute a probe team to inspect the railway colonies and submit a report before the committee.

He directed the Railways management to take initiative at Raipur, Bilaspur and Charoda by signing MoU with local urban bodies for solid collection and disposal. He said, “I would soon personally inspect the action taken by the Railways.”

The Railways authority was asked to appoint a nodal officer to coordinate.

Committee reviewed works of the Raipur Municipal Corporation’s collection and storage centre, its scientific disposal of wastes and other related activities.

Justice Mishra directed to install GPS in all collection vehicles. Raipur Corporation officials assured to provide mobile App and GPS system.

During review of health department, CECB member secretary R. P. Tiwari informed that smaller clinics of state are being brought under purview of the Nursing Home Act for bio-medical waste management.
