A western disturbance has caused a sudden change of weather in the state, according to Meteorological department.
Capital city Raipur was on Wednesday covered with partly cloudy sky throughout the day, accompanied with a light drizzle in the evening that brought temporary respite for the residents from torrid heat. The minimum temperature in Raipur was recorded at 23.6 degrees Celsius.
The western disturbance also impacted northern and southern parts of the state as predicted by the meteorological centre.
It has also predicted partly-cloudy sky with possibility of thunder lightning on Thursday too. The steel city of Bhilai also witnessed rainfall on Wednesday. It was also hit by hailstorm.
Meteorological department sources said that the western disturbance generally peaks in late winter (February). Studies have shown that the strongest (‘active’ or ‘intense’) disturbances are more likely to occur during the winter.
