Exposing the dismal conditions and apathetic attitude of the doctors and other staff members of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital once again, a poor woman suffering from bleeding caused by a contraceptive Copper Intra Uterine Device (IUD) has alleged that doctors are not treating her despite her worsening condition.
This 27 year old woman, a resident of Kuthal Gate area said that after the birth of her twins in the year 2014, the doctor implanted the Copper T (IUD) without her consent. Her husband, Dharmendra Kumar, a daily wage earner said that his wife started having bleeding due to this device last month. Showing the hospital’s registration slip and Atal Ayushman Card, Kumar said, “I along with my ailing wife have made numerous visits to the hospital in the last twenty days but the doctors are not paying any heed. My wife is in pain but the doctors are not listening. I am a poor labourer and don’t have money to take her to any private hospital.’’
Incidentally when this couple was narrating its woes to the media persons, the chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Usha Negi was inspecting the female wing of the GDMC hospital.
After listening to the problem of the woman, Negi herself took the woman to the doctor on duty. After this, the treatment of the woman started and the IUD which was troubling her was removed.
