Woman dead, six family members injured in accident

A woman was killed and as many as six of her family members were seriously injured when a bus collided with an auto-rickshaw by which they were travelling near Ambagad on the Digapahandi main road in Ganjam district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Ranjita Dalai of Gunasagar village.

According to reports, Ranjita along with her family was travelling by the auto-rickshaw to visit a temple at Ambagad in the morning when a private bus en-route to Digapahandi from Brahmapur hit it. All of them were immediately rushed to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here.

While Ranjita was declared dead by doctors, the six other family members, including a seven-year-old boy, underwent treatment at the hospital.

Later, the minor boy was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.

Meanwhile, a police team reached the accident spot after getting information, seized the bus and began investigating into the mishap.
