The Noida police on Monday arrested a woman journalist, who had allegedly come to extort money from Union Minister of State for Tourism, Mahesh Sharma at his hospital in Noida.
It is alleged that the woman claiming to be a journalist was trying to extort money, She had reportedly come to Kailash hospital to collect Rs 45 lakh which she has demanded from the Minister. Police were waiting for her and the moment she entered the hospital premises, she was taken into custody.
According to Vaibhav Krishna Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Budha Nagar, a call was received by police from Minister following which a team rushed to the spot.
“The woman, who said she was a journalist, was taken into custody,” said the SSP.
“During search and questioning police team found an audio clip saved in a tablet and a letter from her possession.
The letter is allegedly written by her ‘Editor’ named Alok Kumar in which he has asked to deliver Rs 2.5 crore,” said the SSP.
“We are intensively studying the contents of the letter. The First Information Report (FIR) is being registered and investigating team is questioning the accused woman who claims to be a journalist.
The attempts are being made to nab the ‘editor’ identified as Alok Kumar. We have got the details about their media related activities,” said the SSP adding that name of the accused woman and sections applied in the case, including contents of the FIR will be released shortly.
