The annual conference of Self Help Groups (SHGs) was organised by the Mahila Vikas Mandal, Kisko, Lohardaga on Tuesday. The conference was headed by Mahila Vikas Mandal President Lalima Bhagat. MLA Sukhdeo Bhagat, who was the Chief Guest at the event, spoke about the importance of social, political, and economic empowerment of women in the progress of the nation.
“It is laudable that women these days are getting more empowered than any other era, yet we need to support and empower more and more women. Hardworking empowered women are crucial to the nation’s progress. Education of one woman means education of the whole family. The Mahila Mandal was set up with these ideas in mind,” he said at the event.
President Lalima Bhagat told the audience that 725 SHGs have been set up in the 9 panchayats of Kisko block. The Mahila Vikas Mandal had a discussion with the MLA on how to grow efficiently with limited means.
