Women in 100 villages of Hazaribagh and West Singhbhum are getting training for livelihood opportunities and better income generation under a project by Srijan Foundation namely, Educating Women Farmers for better Livelihood Opportunities and Better Income Generation”. The project earned them the HCL Grant 2018-19.

The organisation received a grant of  Rs 5 crore through HCL Grant, a CSR commitment by HCL Foundation, to implement the project in a much more organised and accountable manner. One of the biggest and most coveted institutionalised CSR grants of India, HCL Grant, recognises the rise of community-led ecosystems of NGOs.

The project is likely to benefit 5,000 women farmers directly, and indirectly help more than 20,000 families of women farmers, besides Government institutes. Thanks to the experienced team at HCL Foundation and their able mentorship, Srijan Foundation has been able to make an impressive progress.

Nidhi Pundhir, Director, HCL Foundation said, “HCL Grant is a unique initiative in the CSR space where we recognise the heroes contributing to the growth and development of India, and also engage with them over a period of time to achieve the desired and a significant impact within the society.

At HCL Foundation, it has been our continuous focus to strengthen and support the rise of the Fifth State-NGO ecosystem. It is a step towards re-establishing the value of strong governance in civil society and providing a platform where these NGOs receive unprecedented visibility for their path breaking work in reaching out to the marginalised, isolated, underserved and underdeveloped rural communities of India.”

In the quarter started in April 2019, Srijan Foundation shortlisted 50 villages in Hazaribagh and West Singhbhum district and identified 2,500 women farmers for imparting training on sustainable agriculture and organic farming.
