Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials to expedite construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in urban areas so that people could get houses within the stipulated time frame. The directives were issued during a review meeting of Urban Development department held here on Tuesday.
“The officials should work as per the new guidelines and construct houses according to new specifications. The list of beneficiaries should be sent to the SUDA at the earliest,” he said.
As per the new guidelines, houses under the EWS should have a carpet area between 22.77 sq metre and 30 sq metres with the maximum cost of Rs 4.50 lakh or houses with a carpet area between 29 sq metres and 30 sq metres with a balcony should cost Rs 6.50 lakh.
He also asked officials to free encroachments from government land so that same could be used for the construction of houses for the poor.
During the review meeting, Chief Minister was also apprised of the progress in the preparation of DPR for Metro rail projects in Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi. In Varanasi, the CM suggested construction of ropeway to ease traffic.
Minister of State (Urban Development) Suresh Paasi, Principal Secretary Urban Development Nitin Gokaran and MD of LMRC Kumar Keshav were also present during the meeting.
