Yogi’s Russia visit to be a milestone: BJP

Sunday, 11 August 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Russia would prove to be a new milestone in the development of the state as it would translate investment proposals to the ground.

The memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for investments were signed during the two-day UP Investors’ Summit held here in February 2018.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is leading a delegation of five chief ministers of UP, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Assam to Vladivostok city in Russia.

The UP Chief Minister’s visit comes after the second edition of the groundbreaking ceremony for investment projects signed recently.

The co-operation between the two sides, in various sectors, will be the key issue to be taken up for discussions, during the visit.

Yogi Adityanath is likely to sign MoU with Russia pertaining to irrigation, power, food processing and agriculture sectors. Keeping in line with this, entrepreneurs from the two nations will hold six business sessions.

Apart from this, a high-level delegation led by the Union Commerce and Industry Ministry is also scheduled to embark on a visit to Vladivostok from August 12-13.

Uttar Pradesh is planning to host a global Investors’ Summit in 2020.

BJP spokesman SM Tripathi said in a statement here on Saturday that with the congenial climate for investment created in UP during the last two years, industrial houses were keen to invest in the state.

He said the Chief Minister had made relentless efforts for the image makeover of UP by toning up law and order and fighting corruption.

Tripathi said with the two groundbreaking ceremonies so far, investment worth over Rs 1.25 lakh crore had materialised so far.
