Yogi to address 4 rallies today

Friday, 19 April 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

After being restrained from canvassing for 72 hours by the Election Commission for violation of Model Code of Conduct, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will start campaigning by addressing four rallies in central Uttar Pradesh from Friday.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Manish Dixit said that Yogi would address Vijay Sankalp rallies in Sambhal, Firozabad, Mishrikh and Etawah.

The Election Commission had barred Yogi from addressing rallies or taking part in poll campaign for 72 hours starting April 16 for violation of Model Code of Conduct. He was penalised for his ‘Ali’ and ‘Bajrangbali’ statement in Meerut.

During this period, Yogi visited temples in Lucknow, Ayodhya and Varanasi and also had lunch at the house of a Dalit in Ayodhya, inviting sharp reaction from the opposition parties.

Dixit said that Yogi’s first rally would be at Kaila Devi Temple grounds in Asmauli area of Sambhal district at 11 am. This will be followed by a rally at JL Inter College grounds at Sirsaganj in Firozabad.

Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia president Shivpal Singh Yadav and son of senior Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav are locked in a keen contest in this constituency from where the BJP has fielded Dr Chandrasen Jadaun.

The third rally will be at Ramlila Grounds in Etawah where the BJP has fielded National Scheduled Castes Commission chairman Ramshankar Katheria.

The fourth rally on Friday will be at Junior High School grounds in Mishrikh.
