Youth held for looting Lingaraj Hundi

Police on Monday nabbed a person from the Kedargouri area under the Lingaraj police station for allegedly stealing money from the Hundi (donation box) installed at the Lingaraj Temple here.

The accused allegedly stole the money from the donation box and fled from the spot on Sunday. Later, the temple administration filed a complaint with the local Lingaraj police.

Acting on the complaint, police initiated a probe and checked the CCTV surveillance footages of the temple. On the basis of the CCTV footage, police apprehended the accused, who is said to be a native of Balangir district.

While the accused person is in police custody for interrogations, a case has been registered against him under the appropriate sections of IPC, sources said.
