In a sensational double-murder in the name of saving family honour, a youth gunned down his married cousin and her lover as both refused to end their relationship even after strong objection from family members.
Surprisingly, though the youth claimed that he was going to surrender before the police after killing his cousin and her lover, the cops fired on him and later showed that he was arrested after an ‘encounter’.
Reports said that Yasmeen, a resident of Nai Basti locality of Badaut in Baghpat, was living with her parents as she had left her husband a few months back as she was not happy with her marriage.
During her stay at her parent’s house, Yasmeen, who was said to be in love with one Gaffar of the same locality before her marriage, again developed relationship with him. Yasmeen’s family was against her affair with Gaffar and had tried to convince her but when they failed, they had married her to another youth but their plan failed as she left her husband and returned to her parent’s house.
Reports said that Yasmeen’s cousin, Abid, had warned her several time of dire consequences if she did not leave Gaffar.
Local police said that when Yasmeen continued her relations after leaving her husband, Abid issued life threat to Gaffar and told him to stop meeting his cousin.
Finding no other way to end the affair, Abid on Tuesday evening barged into Gaffar’s house and opened fire on him, critically injuring Gaffar. Later Abid went to her cousin’s house and opened fire on her.
While Yasmeen died on the spot, the family of Gaffar rushed him to the district hospital from where he was referred for New Delhi. However, Gaffar also succumbed to his injuries later in the night.
When Abid was going to surrender before the police, the cops fired on his legs, injuring him. He was later shown as arrested after an ‘encounter’.
A case was registered against Abid and he was sent to jail.
