A youth was thrashed to death for opposing misappropriation of his family’s money by a co-villager at Baghmara in the Nilgiri area of Baleswar district.
The deceased was identified as Baburam Singh. According to reports, Baburam’s grandmother, who is an under-trial prisoner, had given Rs 5,000 to one Budu Singh of the locality to give the cash to his family members.
However, Budu Singh misappropriated the amount. When Baburam confronted Budu Singh over the matter, the latter thrashed him, leaving him critically injured.
The victim was undergoing treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday. Acting on a complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased, police started investigation into the incident.
