An awkward situation was observed in Keonjhar Zilla Parishad meeting when all the Zila Parishad members left the Dubar Hall- the meeting place in protest against inaction of district Collector Ashish Thakre against errant Banspal BDO Jogesh Naik who allegedly misbehaved with a local elected public representative.
Sources close to Ajit Kumar Dehury, Zilla Parishad member, Zone-24 under whose limit Banspal block is comes, said that some days back Kamalini Patra, President, Zilla Parishad who had gone to Banspal block to review rural housing expressed her dissatisfaction for slow pace of work. Moreover, Dehury who had also accompanied Kamalini to discuss the matter had asked the BDO saying why he was trying to misguide the President instead of revealing the truth of slow work.
At this, the BDO got infuriated and started shouting at Dehury and asked who was he to ask such questions.
At this, Kamalini immediately brought to the notice of the district administration about the unruly behaviour of the BDO and sought immediate action.
Dehury also made a written complaint to the Collector but of no result.
As per rule ,after receiving the complaint, it was the duty of Collector to order for an inquiry into the issue and ask the complainant to wait till inquiry is complete.
But the Collector remained silent and rather supported the BDO saying that an OAS officer can’t make such mistake which infuriated all the 28 Zilla Parishad members irrespective of party affiliation.
Then they boycotted the meeting and stood in front of the Collectorate gate shouting slogan against the Collector and BDO.
Later, Thakre came out of his chamber to beg excuse on behalf of the BDO which couldn’t not calm down the angry members.
At last, the Collector called them to his chamber where the BDO beg excuse for his
wrong behaviour to the public representative.
