2, including woman, held in honey trap case

The Delhi police have unearthed a gang by arresting two accused, including a lady who used to honey trap people and later used to dupe them. The accused lady lured the victims through matrimonial and dating websites.

The accused duo were identified as, Ashwani Sharma (38), a native of UP and Soniya (name changed) (41), a native of Kolkata, West Bengal. The duo was residing in Uttam Nagar area of Delhi.

DCP (South) Vijay Kumar said, a case was registered at police station Greater Kailash wherein it was alleged that some unknown person stole his wallet (containing his credit card, debit card) and his mobile phone. Thereafter, they have cheated Rs 1,50,000/-from complainant's credit card and debit card linked with his Paytm account using his mobile phone to change his Paytm credentials.

During investigation technical reports from the concerned banks, Paytmand Pay phone were obtained following which a tip off was receivedabout the cyber criminals and a trap was laid down at Uttam Nagar Delhi. The duo was arrested.

During interrogation accused persons disclosed that they laid the tarpon the complainant through shadi.com and dating website. When the complainant came into contact of the girl, she developed chatting as well as conversation with the complainant and developed friendship with him. Thereafter she offered the complainant to meet her in a hotel, where she offered drink to victim. She offered more drinks to the complainant after which the victim went unconscious. The accused fled away with his mobile and wallet, DCP added

The accused persons disclosed that they have cheated other innocent persons also on such pretext as such cheated person does not file complaint due to his moral values in society. The present complainant also at first reported about theft of his wallet and mobile phone due to his defame in family and society, DCP said.
