Astroturf : Can astrology be relied upon?

A worried mother of an errant son came questioning the relevance of astrology the other day. “Seeing my son’s chart, most of the astrologers had predicted that he was destined to earn a position of public eminence and make us proud. They banked their prediction on Gajakeshari yoga being formed in the lagna — conjunction of benevolent Jupiter and mind signifying Moon. Citing further astrological dictum, they stated that if ever Jupiter occupies one of the angular houses — lagna 4th, 7th, or the 10th — no harm can be caused by any other evil planet. He did very well till he completed his 10th. He then forced us send him abroad for further studies. Thereafter, he has gone astray. He did not complete his studies.  He is now demanding money to set up a business. He gets violent when questioned what can he do without acquiring required skill-set? The events in my son’s life so far have created a sense of distrust against astrology itself. But recently somebody suggested that someone envious of the family could have used black magic to derail him. I wish to check whether it is possible, and if so, what remedial measure would you suggest,” the lady submitted.

“If you were in touch with charlatans having half-baked knowledge of astrology, you had to go through such frustrating experiences. No wonder, they conveniently banked on one factor that could have pleased you, ignoring counter influences exercised by other planets. Remember, planets are not doers. And no single planet, no matter how much beneficious they may be perceived as, can qualify to stand as final determinant. Planets reflect different energy streams flowing through nature. And we need the support of all these energies in the right proportion to enjoy a successful life with ease and comfort. Energy imbalance, if any, as reflected in a chart may indicate adversities. So, a holistic look of the chart is required to figure out the personality frame-up of a person and their related bearing on our future life. A fractioned look will be misleading. The irony of the whole situation is that most of the traditional astrologers don’t care to look at the implications of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, as if being far distant planets may not exercise any influence on our life. They seem to be ignorant of the scientifically established fact that the universe is a unified organism, where every point of the space is in immediate connect with the rest. Evidently, the reverberations of energy excited anywhere in the universe shall travel far and wide. So, we can’t afford to ignore the implications of energy streams identified with those distant planets. Also, let me make it clear, the evil is there in his own mind and psyche, which requires correction without further loss of time,” I responded.

Let us now look at astrological pointers to the young man’s personality frameup. Lagna lord Sun, occupying the 11th house identified with fulfilment of desires, seen in isolation presents a rosy picture. But its opposition to Uranus makes out an unconventional, eccentric, self-willed person having rebellious tendencies. He may take pleasure in defying established societal norms. Here again, the Sun opposite mischievous Neptune makes him stuck to his self-delusions, distanced from ground realities.

Habitually an escapist, he may not acknowledge truth on its first appearance, and continue blindly pursuing his fanciful dream perceptions till pushed to the wall. If that would not be enough, even mind-signifying Moon is placed adverse to both Uranus and Neptune. This combination not only negates the beneficence of Jupiter and Moon conjunction, it rather makes him a daydreamer known for his mercurial temperament.

What further compounded his problem is that Mars and Saturn are ill-disposed off to each other. That makes him bad tempered, quarrelsome, vindictive, revengeful, and suspicious of all. Mars ill-disposed off to Mercury makes him restless, argumentative, hypercritical of those who do not come to his terms. It also accounts for his foul mouth and lying tendency. Mars opposite Pluto accounts for his violent temper, makes him brutal, vindictive and cruel.

Venus opposite Uranus and Neptune makes him a perverse character. He may waste money on pleasure pursuits and incur heavy loss through speculative deals. The result is there to see. In fact, he seems to have reached a stage where he needs medical intervention. The positives in him are no less. But the negatives have proved heavy over him, as involuntarily they keep playing from the front. The positives, on the contrary, need to be identified, acknowledged, optimised, and consciously used. To be continued.
