Astroturf : Seek help for psychiatric disorder

Sir, you have cast the true picture of my son’s present frame of mind. Now I have a question: Ours is a cultured, religious, and an affluent family having an overall good home atmosphere. And we have tried to impart a value system in him while bringing him up. All that he looked for was made available. Where did he pick up threads of negativity then?” the lady asked.

Well, so far as the child’s upbringing is concerned, you gave your best to the child by your self-defined standards. He was brought up under a very protected environment. He went to a school where only rich children study. So, he had no exposure to the realities of life. He was brought up in a way that things were available at his beck and call. He never had to digest denial. Now, when you deny what he is asking for, how can he take it kindly, no matter how reasoned be your stand? For, he was never made to realise the value of money.

In so far as the overall character of a person is concerned, it is not simply dependent on the family environment and upbringing. It though makes significant impact, but there is much more to it. The roots are actually grounded in the Karmic carryover from the past. Remember, life runs in succession. On death, it is just the gross-body that becomes dysfunctional and then disintegrates. But the subtle body — which is encased in the gross-body that holds the key to mind functions and their emotional reflections — remains intact. That gets carried on to the next incarnate bodies with all the memory imprints acquired during the lifetime.

The sum total of memory imprints pertaining to learning and unlearning, the skill sets acquired, the intellectual development, good or bad experiences, the unfulfilled desires, if any, during the lifetime sets the premise on which the next life takes off. These memory imprints find presence in the next incarnate body in the form of thought-seeds. They define the mind-traits of a person — the desire trends, expanse of vision and level of intellect, likes and dislikes, prejudices and obsessions, habits and attitudes, as well as virtues and attributes. As and when congenial ground becomes available, those thought-seeds come into play one after the other. Had this not been true, twins brought up under similar conditions would not behave differently.

“Possibly yes, but how comes the negative traits were not in evidence till my son completed class 10th examination?” the lady asked again. Well, the Karmic carryover doesn’t ordinarily find reflection immediately after birth. Even if there are some indications, they invariably get ignored as being childish trends that may improve with time. The true self of a child begins to gradually outplay around the eighth year when a sense of independence begins to gain ground. It gets firmed up during the teens when the child begins to exert oneself.

“I had earlier asked you whether some black magic has been done on my child? But you have not given a clear answer,” the lady came up with another question. Well, truth remains that seeds of the young man’s mind-traits are very much in evidence in his astrological chart. So, instead of trying to resolve his issues from the root level, it will be a futile exercise to look for external reasons and remedy thereto. If anybody advises you to resort to some puja, do you think the pundit’s words will be able to strike upon the young man’s inner realms of mind for necessary correction? If that be true, nobody will suffer from psychic problems.

“What’s the way out then and can you give a timeline when he is expected to become normal?” Given the astrological pointers and his account you have shared — his sleep disorder and incoherent thought process — the young man seems to be suffering from a serious psychiatric disorder, which warrants immediate medical intervention. Be it known that whenever a person is subject to continued stress, the first casualty is hormonal imbalance, which in turn, further compounds stress. The person, thus, gets trapped in a vicious cycle, difficult to come out of easily. So, towards the first step, immediate psychiatric help is required. Unless the hormonal imbalance is corrected, no other remedial measure will work. Once, he becomes calmer and receptive, then only even counselling will work, or advisory, if any, may get registered in his mind. Under such circumstances, it will be unfair to suggest a timeline either.
