43 Executive Trainees inducted in POSOCO

The Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) has commenced a one year training programme—AARAMBH, for its third batch Executive Trainees. The ceremony was inaugurated by the chairman and managing director of POSOCO, KVS Baba in presence of all the directors of the company. The batch of 43 trainees from Electrical Engineering, Finance and Computer Science will undergo a modular program of four month’s classroom training followed by an on-the-job training. These trainees will be placed at the various RLDCs upon the successful completion of the programme.

BSES gets CII's award for ‘Customer Obsession'

BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) has been conferred with the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Award for ‘Customer Obsession' for 2016 in the service sector in the large business category. With this, the BYPL has become the first power distribution utility to bag this coveted honour. The award was presented by Nalin Kohli, Chairman, CII National Committee on MSME Council and Start-up Council and Kiran Karnik, CII National Committee on Telecom and Broadband. Additionally, BYPL also received a special recognition for ‘Leveraging Digital Technology for Superior Customer Experience'. Instituted for promoting pro-customer culture in the Indian industry, the awards aim to help organisations understand the various critical elements for delivering superior customer experience across the entire value chain.

Confluence of art and culture at India Art Fair

The India Art Fair, a four day exhibition recently held in Delhi, brought together artists from India and abroad who showcased their state-of-the-art paintings, sculptures and masterpieces of diverse ranges-traditional, minimal, miniature, contemporary, and modern art. The event promoted the cultural discourse through a bright line up of large-scale installations, conversations, screening, performances and live events to the audience.

Chinese New Year Celebration in Delhi

The People's Republic of China, in coordination with the CD Foundation, organised the Chinese New Year Celebrations at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The annual ‘Happy Chinese New Year' program is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu, graced the event as chief guest along with His Excellency Luo Zhaohui, the Chinese Ambassador to India.

IGNCA’s Exhibition on paper craft and calligraphy

In celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and the Dastkari Haat Samiti have collaborated to present a unique exhibition, combining hand-made paper and calligraphy on the theme of Mahatma Gandhi. The event explores images, symbols, words and thoughts related to Mahatma Gandhi for Gandhi Virasat-Kagazkala. Eleven calligraphers from across the country have presented their work in their inimitable styles and regional scripts, collectively offering 61 works which are on display at one of the twin galleries at the IGNCA on Janpath. They show how handmade paper and calligraphy enhance each other on beautifully textured canvases to convey Gandhi's deeply valuable messages to humanity.

Sanjay Dalmia announces housing and cleanliness scheme

The former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and a renowned businessman, Sanjay Dalmia, has announced a 'Housing and Swatchta Abhiyaan' at Chirawa in Jhunhunu district of Rajasthan in the memory of his late parents, Lalita Dalmia and Vishnu Hari Dalmia. Expressing grief on the demise of his father, Dalmia announced this scheme for the needy people of the area. Chirawa is the native place of the Dalmia family and they have been constantly working for the betterment and upliftment of the region. Under the aegis of the Dalmia Seva Trust, Sanjay Dalmia continuously conducts various philanthropic activities for the underprivileged in Rajasthan.

SCOPE Organises Conclave on Startups

The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) is organising a two-day Conclave on Startups between February 14 and 15. This is a unique initiative of SCOPE to bring together the stakeholders, viz. government entities, state startups missions, public sector enterprises, industry champions, knowledge partners and the media on a common platform. To be addressed by key stakeholders of the industry, the event will offer an opportunity to the senior executives of the public sector enterprises, banks and insurance companies to participate on nomination.

KGH organises cancer Awareness drive

A Cancer Awareness programme was organised by the Kasturba Gandhi Hospital (KGH) of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) in the Vivekanand Auditorium, Delhi which was presided over by the hospital’s CMO, Dr Alok Majumdar. He discussed tobacco related cancer in detail and advised people to desist from the use of tobacco related products. Dr Tulu Chakraborty, Senior DMO/FW, focused on the subject—‘Guard Her Against Cervical Cancer’, and stressed that how servical cancer can be prevented through HPV vaccines.
