AL–FALAH UNIVERSITY WINS KIIT PREMIER LEAGUE
Al-Falah University has become the winner of the 12th edition of the KIIT Premier League (KPL) All India (D&N) T-20 Cricket Tournament, after defeating the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar. Organised by the KIIT Deemed University, the tournament saw the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) clinching the third position while the University of Mumbai stood at the fourth position. The winning team bagged the champion’s trophy and Rs 200,000 cash prize while the runner’s up, GNDU, received Rs 100,000 along with a trophy. JNTU received Rs 50,000 and the University of Mumbai received Rs 25,000. It is worth mentioning that this edition of KPL has the distinction of being the highest prize money tournament in the history of university sports in India.
Recognition to Practising Company Secretary under SEBI LODR Regulations
In a significant move towards developing the profession of Company Secretaries, SEBI has inserted the ‘Regulation 24 A', providing for Secretarial Audit in SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. As under the 24A: Secretarial Audit, ‘every listed entity and its material unlisted subsidiaries incorporated in India, shall undertake secretarial audit and shall annex with its annual report, a secretarial audit report, given by a company secretary in practice, in such form as may be prescribed with effect from the year ended March 31, 2019’. “This is a significant recognition to ICSI professional fraternity and endorsement to the Secretarial Audit/ Compliance Reporting Mechanism. The Institute assures that the members of ICSI shall continue to serve as an extended arm of SEBI’, said CS Ranjeet Pandey, President, ICSI.

Maersk Line moves containers on Ganga from Varanasi to Kolkata
The world's largest container shipping company—Maersk Line, is moving 16 containers on the River Ganga (National Waterway-1) from Varanasi to Kolkata. Maersk Line moves 12 million containers yearly across the globe and has partnered with India’s inland waterways for the first time. The container movement follows similar movements already done by firms like PepsiCo, Emami Agrotech, IFFCO Fertilisers and Dabur India. With Maersk Line on board, the cargo from the hinterland will move directly to and from Bangladesh and the rest of the world through the Bay of Bengal.
