Indian Engineering Congress held in Udaipur

The CMD of NHPC Limited, Balraj Joshi, delivered the 61st Sir Visveshvaraya Memorial lecture at the ‘33rd Indian Engineering Congress’ held recently at Udaipur. Joshi gave a presentation on GLOF (Glacial Lake Outburst Flood) related to the glacier melting/overflowing to a gathering, featuring prominent industry leaders and academicians. He especially acknowledged the contribution of M Visvesvaraya, the eminent Indian engineer and recipient of the Indian republic's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna on this occasion.

POWERGRID commissions Transmission System Strengthening

The POWERGRID Jabalpur Transmission Limited, a 100 per cent wholly owned subsidiary of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, secured though Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), has successfully commissioned the Vindhyachal Pooling Station—Jabalpur Pooling Station 765 kV Double Circuit Transmission line. The project is part of the Transmission System Strengthening, associated with Vindhyachal-V and has been established on Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) basis. The transmission system is put under commercial operation with effect from January 1, 2019.

Best Biometric experience at the airport

The biometric-based walkthrough experience at the Sydney International Airport has been recognised for excellence and awarded an International Airport Review Award. Vision-Box was voted the highest for the Fast Passenger Processing System trial underway at the Sydney Airport for excellence in ‘Passenger Experience and Seamless Travel’. The landmark program is an innovative facial recognition technology being used to significantly improve the passenger experience. It's the most complete end-to-end pilot of a biometric airport journey in the world, spanning the travellers' course from check-in, through contact-less baggage drop, lounge access and boarding.

New cruise itineraries in line

The Norwegian Cruise Line has opened its winter 2020/2021 itineraries for sale. The highlights include sister ships— Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Encore, sailing from Miami to the Caribbean; Norwegian Escape's debut in Port Canaveral; and Norwegian Epic's return to San Juan. “We are pleased with the variety of itineraries we are providing, including positioning sister ships, to sail from the Cruise Capital of the World, where we can showcase the ship's stand-out amenities to thousands of guests each week,” said the president and chief executive officer of the Norwegian Cruise Line, Andy Stuart.
