Inclusive democracy with youth participation

In an attempt to strengthen the democracy and to sensitise the youth to participate in the electoral procedure with enthusiasm, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) in colleges, institutions and universities. Recently, the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Delhi, Dr Ranbir Singh, inaugurated the ELC of Netaji Subhas University Of Technology (NSUT) in Dwarka.

The inauguration ceremony also saw the presence of the rewarded Para Athletic Vikas Dagar, who has been nominated as an icon for PwD for the South West district for Accessible Election. Dagar,  has won 41 medals in various national and international championships and was welcomed by the District Election Officer, (South West), Rahul Singh.

The SDM, Kapashera, SDM, Dwarka the SDM, Najafgarh SDM, Vasant Vihar, and SDM, Election, South West, along with other dignitaries were also present during the function.

The CEO, Delhi, briefed the students about the various aspects of ELC and emphasised on the role of the students in the empowerment of the democracy for a better future of the country. He encouraged the students to create awareness on how every vote matters and for the youth to make informed decisions. in addition he stressed upon ethical and informed voting.
