Dr Rashmi Singh, secretary, NDMC, attended the 12th Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport Forum in Hanoi, Vietnam. Around 400 participants were part of the forum. Other senior government officials from Asia and the pacific countries, city mayors, international experts and resource persons represented their countries.
The theme of the forum was ‘Achieving smart and resilient cities through low-carbon and intelligent transport system.’ It main objectives were to identify potential and opportunities that can improve existing and new infrastructures and services like road safety and explore urban mobility options; encourage cycling and walkaway facilities; optimise road networks; manage city parking and develop transit-oriented cities and communities.
Rashmi presented a design strategy of the overall NDMC smart city solution — smart mobility options, road network improvement plans, ensuring road safety, universal design schemes, multi-modal transport options, pedestrian and cycle tracks and its impact on communities and liveability of the city, PBS and smart solutions. She also proposed eco-sensitive solutions and urban design features on Chelmsford Road, Panchkuian Road, Akbar Road, Moti Lal Nehru Road and Prithviraj Road. She discussed the achievements and learnings of the first-ever trial run conducted at Connaught Place recently (with support of IPE Global).
