NLC India pays tribute to Gandhi

Rakesh Kumar, CMD of NLC India Limited, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary by garlanding the statue of him. The representatives of various cultural associations performed cultural programmes by depicting how the Mahatma’s principles are still relevant and continues to be a driving force behind activism in modern-day India.

Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh said Gandhi ji’s birth day is not only a national celebration in India alone but it is also observed by the United Nation’s as the ‘International Day of Non-Violence’. He insisted that Gandhi ji’s vision on India’s development had given greater emphasis on health, sanitation and environment. He mentioned that cleanliness and sanitation are an integral parts of the Gandhian way of living. He elaborated various activities like construction of 1,275 toilets in 635 government schools in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. And how NLC  took part actively in fulfilling Government’s call for making India defecation free.

The cultural programme on the theme ‘Teaching and Preaching of Gandhi’ was performed by Neyveli Ladies Club, Neyveli Telugu Samithi, Neyveli Kannada Kala Samithi, Neyveli Bharathiya Kala Samithi, Kerala Kala Samithi WIPS (Women In Public Sector), which enthralled the audience.
