The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is ranked among the top 301-400 universities in the world in the recently released Computer Science (CS) subject ranking for 2020 by the Times Higher Education (THE), UK.
In engineering subjects like general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, the institute has been ranked among the top 501-600 universities in the world.
The weightings for subject rankings in Computer Science and Engineering and Technology are 30 per cent for teaching (learning environment), 30 per cent for research (volume, income and reputation), 27.5 per cent for citations (research influence), 7.5 per cent for international outlook (staff, students and research) five per cent for industry income (innovation).
The ranking by THE had used 13 calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons, and all data are independently audited by professional services firm. They have included 1,250 institutions from 86 countries.
