Moscow: A passenger bus plunged off a bridge onto a frozen river in Siberia on Sunday, killing 19 of the more than 40 people on board, authorities said. A tyre on the bus burst as it was crossing the bridge over the Kuenga river in eastern Siberia’s Zabaikalsky region.

Washington: Eleven people were wounded in a shooting early on Sunday in New Orleans’ French Quarter, a popular tourist hub, US police said, adding that two of the victims were in a critical condition. The shooting took place at about 3:00 am on a crowded commercial street near many hotels in a historic district that attracts visitors from around the world.

Namibia President Geingob wins 2nd term
Windhoek: Namibia’s incumbent President Hage Geingob has won a second term, securing 56.3 per cent of the vote in the presidential election, the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) said. Geingob on Saturday defeated independent candidate Panduleni Itula, who received 29.4 per cent, Xinhua news agency reported, citing ECN.
