A well-qualified Engineer is sought after by the top multinational companies as well as Indian giants. Serving the nation can sometimes attain a whole new altitude, and Engineers are known to do well in the Civil Services exam to serve the country in policymaking. It is one of the best options; however, preparation for at least one year is recommended. Millions of students appear for this examination each year, and only a few of them crack it. If a student can attain good rank, then he or she can get the distinguished post of IAS, IPS, or IFS, as well. Engineers also have the option to join armed forces.

Those interested in academics can choose to go for higher studies. They can prepare for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE); this test shows the overall know-how of an engineering graduate, and after qualifying, one can join prestigious engineering colleges (IITs and NITs) for MTech. If a student is not willing to clear GATE then he or she can also prepare for Joint Admission Test (JAM) and can enter academics and research.
